How to make a Basic Boutique Bow with Ribbon
This is one of the bows featured across the website to showcase the pretty printed ribbons we sell. I have received a lot of emails asking how to make it.
I have used our gorgeous printed daffodil ribbon. It would make a great fundraising bow to support Cancer.
You will need:-
54cm of 38mm heat sealed grosgrain ribbon
10cm Template – make one out of cardboard 10cm across with a split in the middle
Needle & thread
Clips to hold in place ribbon
Hot glue
Lined clip
7cm of 9mm grosgrain ribbon for centre strip
Place your ribbon at an angle across the template as pictured. Clip the end in place.
Wrap the ribbon straight across the back of the template. Then fold it towards the front on an angle.
Fold the ribbon to the back again and straight across. Bring the end of the ribbon back to the front and fold up on an angle forming an X at the front. The back will resemble =. Clip in place.
Now to sew the bow. Start with the back of the bow facing you. Bring the needle from the front to the back as pictured. Make 4 stitches through the bow.
Remove the clips holding the bow to the template. Slowly sliding the bow off the template.
Hold the bow with one hand and slowly putt thread tight to gather it. Wrap the thread around the centre 2 – 3 times and then stitch the centre to secure the thread. Knot if necessary. If one of the ends it too long trim it off and reseal the end of the ribbon.
Use hot glue to attach one end of the 9mm centre ribbon. Bring the ribbon to the front and wrap around the bow. Trim off excess ribbon. Heat seal and glue down. Use Hot glue to attach the bow to the lined alligator clip.
Congratulations – You have now made a Basic Boutique Bow
